Katya Sparks
Katya was born in Panama City, Panama and moved to the United States at the age of 7. She is an English language teacher who has taught English to over 500 students from more than 30 countries. Katya currently resides in France, where she is building her own business in the e-learning industry.
Katya learned about Few for Change by chance while researching volunteer opportunities in Panama. She was drawn by Few for Change's mission to improve access to education for students in the indigenous Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé region of Panama. Her early years in Panama have instilled in her a strong sense of cultural pride and a dedication to give back to her community.
Katya received her Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University and her Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Arlington.

One of our guiding principles when we started Few for Change in 2009 was a simple but deeply held belief: the majority of every dollar donated should go directly to the communities with which we work. Our goal has always been to strengthen access to education to help break the cycle of poverty in the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca. Now, nearly two decades later, we want to share with our donors how that commitment has held up over time.
